Summary
As we’ve seen in this chapter, Microsoft Lync Server 2010 is the latest incarnation of Microsoft’s communications suite and offers IM, conferencing and VoIP functionality. In this version, all the functions that were previously different clients have been consolidated into a single easy to use client that supports all of the available functionality. Microsoft Lync Server 2010 can be used for anything from a simple IM platform to a full PBX replacement to a distributed Voice over IP implementation with support for localized backup services. Microsoft Lync Server 2010 enables users to simplify their communications and expand the ways in which they can collaborate.
