Task 2: Defining the Number of IIS Instances

Until this point, this guide has dealt with the applications and their requirements for running on IIS. In this task, the applications are grouped into one or more IIS instances.

The first step in defining the number of IIS instances required is to set aside all applications that were identified as requiring isolation. Each application of this type will require a separate IIS 7.0 instance.

The remaining list of applications will then be analyzed to see what applications can be combined together in the same IIS instances.
