Option 1: Full Installation

The full, traditional installation of Windows Server 2008 offers all services and features available for installation and configuration. Points to consider when evaluating applications for full installation are:

  • Microsoft .NET support. Applications that require any form of Microsoft .NET support require the full installation option. Refer to the application inventory to determine which applications require Microsoft .NET.

  • GUI desktop. The full installation of Windows Server 2008 includes the Windows® GUI. Personnel administering the server locally may find the GUI easier to use than non-GUI versions.
