6. Step 3: Determine Windows Server 2008 Edition and Installation Mode

Microsoft offers 32-bit and 64-bit editions of the Windows Server 2008 operating system. In addition, Windows Server 2008 supports the Server Core installation option of Windows Server 2008, which minimizes the operating system footprint. This section guides the organization through the decision between 32-bit and 64-bit as well as the installation mode of the servers. The goal of this step is to record the Windows edition and installation mode for each application.
