One of the most frequently used application-layer protocols on the Internet is the Hyper Text Transfer Protocol (HTTP). End users usually have no idea what protocol they’re using except for the fact that they’re using a browser to access Web pages on the Internet. From an administrator’s perspective it is important to understand what goes on behind the scenes whenever someone browses to a site on the Internet.
