Summary

In this final chapter, we explored several systems that Exchange is completely dependent on. Active Directory, DNS, storage, network, and hardware are the most obvious ones. Ensuring they are resilient and highly available is fundamental to achieve a high level of availability for Exchange.

While in small environments all these systems might fall under the remit of the same team, this is typically not the case in larger environments. Relying on other teams and their systems to design a highly available messaging infrastructure might be frustrating, but it remains critical nonetheless. Therefore, it is crucial for all these teams to work together to address any possible issues and pitfalls before starting to deploy Exchange 2013.
