Accepted domains

An email domain or SMTP namespace such as contoso.com must be declared to Exchange before the transport system will accept incoming messages addressed to that domain. Domains for which Exchange accepts messages are called accepted domains. The domain into which Exchange is installed is automatically added to the list of accepted domains during the installation of the first hub transport server in the organization. If you want to use other domains, you have to add them to the list of accepted domains.
