Because CAS servers now provide the endpoint for MAPI and all other client protocols, it is even more important to provide a resilient capability for client connectivity to CAS servers. As we know, mailbox databases are assigned pointers to CAS servers. This works well until the CAS server assigned to a mailbox database is offline. If the CAS server doesn’t come online again quickly, clients will not be able to connect to their mailboxes. This is always an issue when a service depends on a single server.
