Transition Preferences
Transition preferences (Figure 14) offer options to help you transition between Excel and other spreadsheet software packages, such as Lotus 1-2-3.

Default save as type enables you to specify the default file format for every Excel file you save. Choose an option from the pop-up menu (Figure 15). The option you select will automatically appear in the Save As dialog. You can override this choice if desired when you save a file.
