Legend

A legend is a box with color-coded labels identifying a chart's data series. You can turn a legend on or off and set its position within the chart area.

Tip

  • Excel creates the legend based on cells selected as part of the data source. That's why it's a good idea to include headings in the selected range when you create a chart.

To add a legend

1.
In the Chart Options dialog, click the Legend tab to display its options (Figure 51).

Turn on the Show legend check box.

Select one of the radio buttons for a legend position:
  • Bottom displays the legend at the bottom-center of the chart.

  • Corner displays the legend at the top-right corner of the chart.

  • Top displays the legend at the top-center of the chart.

  • Right displays the legend at the right-middle ...
