Series & AutoFill
A series is a sequence of cells that forms a logical progression. Excel's AutoFill feature can generate a series of numbers, months, days, dates, and quarters.
To create a series with the fill handle
1. | Enter the first item of the series in a cell (Figure 36). Be sure to complete the entry by pressing  or  or clicking the Enter button on the formula bar.
