Copying Cells

Excel offers several ways to copy the contents of one cell to another: the Copy and Paste commands, the fill handle, and the Fill command.

How Excel copies depends not only on the method used, but on the contents of the cell(s) being copied.

  • When you use the Copy and Paste commands to copy a cell containing a value, Excel makes an exact copy of the cell, including any formatting (Figure 21). I tell you about formatting cells in Chapter 6.
