Representational State Transfer (REST)
Representational State Transfer (REST) is a modern and easy way to consume a web service without using the SOAP or Web Services Description Language (WSDL) protocols. By just using the query string for retrieve operations using the GET method of the HTTP protocol and the POST method for add, the DELETE method for delete, and the PUT method for update operations, you can quickly get the data you want in XML format without having to create any special proxy client as you would do with SOAP.
