This section discusses how Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 for Outlook is compatible with Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013.
As more and more enterprise organizations use Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Microsoft anticipates increasingly complex upgrade scenarios. Therefore, provided that Update Rollup 12 (or later) is installed with Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 for Outlook, the client is compatible with Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013.
Users must still configure the client to point to the new instance if the upgrade is to a new server, which was discussed in the “Client Configuration” section of this chapter. However, system administrators can make an appropriate DNS entry that redirects users automatically to the new server.
