Relationship Roles

Relationship Roles are available only for Accounts, Contacts, and Opportunities. They are designed to enable users to configure relationship types that might exist between records of these entities in the system. Relationship Roles can be used for any kind of relationship (such as business, family, and social).

As previously noted with regard to Connection Roles, Relationship Roles were to have been removed from Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013 completely (available only for upgraded instances for backward compatibility). However, they appear to have shipped with the final product. So, you have the option to use either Connection Roles or Relationship Roles.
