Online Updates

When working with Online, both a pro and con is that updates are applied automatically. In some cases, the updates are considered major updates, and then a customer-driven upgrade (CDU) process is implemented. (These are usually reserved for very large [major] releases of the software, such as this release of Dynamics CRM 2013.)

In these cases, customers can select when they want to go through the process of upgrading, and even go so far as to schedule (or reschedule) the date on which the upgrade will happen. This allows customers adequate time to test their online build against the new update and fix anything that might be necessary before the actual upgrade.
