We will now have a look at the different kind of data types you can use in AX.
They can be separated into two main groups:
Primitive data types are the building blocks of the programming language. They are used to store a single value based on the type in runtime code. The values that we are able to store in each data type vary, depending on which data type is used. If you would like to store a text string you can use the string data type. If you would like to store a date value you can use the
date data type, or perhaps the
utcdatetime. You can also use the data type
anytype if the type of data read into the variable is decided at runtime.
