Profiler

The SQL Server Profiler allows you to track the data traffic between clients and the server. Figure 19-38 shows a typical example.

When you start the Profiler, the system opens an empty window. You can select File, then New, then Trace to open the Trace Properties dialog box shown in Figure 19-39. Use this dialog box to specify which server’s traffic you want to log. The system creates a new process-tracking specification under the name Test in the Trace Name field.

If you want to use a previously created trace, select File, then Open, and then Trace File.
