Setting Up a Linked Server

In simple terms, a SQL Server/MSDE linked server can be regarded as a connection to an external data source in the same way that they are created in an Access mdb.

Setup in SQL Server Enterprise Manager

In SQL Server Enterprise Manager, you set up a new linked server by selecting Linked Servers under Security in the left pane, as shown in Figure 24-1.
