Introduction

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) was presented in 1991 for the first time as a powerful technique for applications in the field of medical diagnostics [1]. It was demonstrated that with OCT high resolution cross-sectional images of biological tissue can be obtained in a contactless and non-invasive way. The investigation of retinal diseases, such as glaucoma, belonged to the first applications, with a main consequence being that commercial retinal OCT scanners are already available and used in eye clinics and hospitals.
