Numerical Solutions to Transient Flow Problems

33.1 Introduction

We have already looked at analytical solutions to transient flow problems in section 18. Most of the solutions discussed in this section have been solved by using transient flow solutions, i.e., solutions that are composed of a steady-state solution and a transient solution. We distinguished two types of transient flows.

Time-Dependent Transient Flows. The first type discussed was time-dependent transient flow problems. In these problems, the solution consisted of a time-independent steady-state solution and a time-dependent transient solution (see Eq. 18.2).
