2.5. THE BIG PICTURE

In order to take better advantage of the Internet, the e-learning industry should forget about how things were done in the past and focus on what needs to be accomplished. Overall, we want to be able to identify a person's needs, match these to appropriate content, deliver effective experiences, and measure the results. The Internet offers new leverageable technologies such as blogs, wikis, chat, and virtual classrooms.

If we apply the model other industries use, we would move away from any using local media and have centralized distribution points. And the purchasing model would move away from a direct relationship with a content developer to one that acts as a service provider, as we have seen work broadly from iTunes ...
