Residual and influence diagnostics

Abstract

In Chapter 6, the statistical methods of residual diagnostics are described first. A variety of residual types are specified, both generally and with specific regard to longitudinal data analysis. I also delineate semi-variogram, a popular residual diagnostic technique applied in longitudinal data analysis. This unique method is used to check whether serial correlation among repeated measurements for the same subject is present given the specified fixed effects and the covariance parameters.
