On-the-Job Development Strategies

On-the-job development strategies are approaches to learning that put the nonprofit leader in control over the mix of practices, tactics, and tools that can be put to use to enhance the growth and effectiveness of both leaders and their staffs. Leaders lead but need to manage as well. In the nonprofit sector, this is particularly relevant given the lack of infrastructure depth. Without multiple levels of management, nonprofit leaders have to maintain a thoughtful and intentional balance between leading and managing. The challenges we address in this fieldbook reflect this delicate balance.
