CHAPTER 24 Inside a Virtual Environment

A 2D media server simply plays back digital content as if projected on a flat surface. A 3D media server, on the other hand, creates a virtual 3D environment in real time using a combination of layers and objects.

The Ai and d3 servers go even further into the 3D world by creating a 3D space. The programmer is able to load in a full 3D model of any object and use the screen to program directly on the surface. Figure 24.1 shows how a 3D sphere is configured in the Stage Construction page of the Ai.
