CHAPTER 22 Timecode, MIDI, and TouchOSC

When it comes to show control, a media server will likely have many options. These options usually involve a show controller that triggers the server via one of the following options:

  • Timecode (SMPTE, MTC)
  • MIDI Notes (MIDI)
  • TouchOSC™.

Timecode

Using timecode for show control does not take the place of programming with the server. In other words, if you are not using a lighting console to program the cues, then you will need to use either an internal timeline or an external proprietary application to create and store the video cues.
