Single-point incremental forming of polymers

Abstract:

This chapter focuses on new developments in single-point incremental forming (SPIF) that offer the possibility of producing low-cost, small-batch, polymer sheet components at room temperature. The presentation is supported by experimentation with benchmark shapes made from polyvinylchloride (PVC), polyamide (PA), polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and polycarbonate (PC) and is aimed at identifying the formability limits of the process as a function of the major operating parameters.
