Career-Life Balance

Although more people are choosing careers that give them better control over their work lives, this means individuals have more responsibility for their career planning and management. They cannot rely on employers to furnish a career path and help with career planning; they have to take charge on their own and figure out where they want to go and how to get there. People may have more freedom and more options, but conversely this means a lot more risk as well. Mainero and Sullivan (2006) contend that:
