Remote Desktop Licensing (RD Licensing) is one of those necessary evils that we all want to dismiss, but without proper licensing, your terminal server will stop accepting connections after a period of time. This time period depends on the OS version you are using. What RD Licensing does is manage the client access licenses (RD CALs) that are required of a user or a device to connect to a terminal server. RD Licensing in Windows Server 2008 R2 has some new features that will ease management, enable the administrator to revoke licenses, and provide more effective ways to diagnose licensing issues.
