Prepare and Configure Remote Desktop Services Gateway

Remote Desktop Services Gateway (RD Gateway) is a role for Windows Server 2008 R2 that encapsulates Remote Desktop Protocol traffic over HTTP with SSL encryption (HTTPS) and provides a secure link for authorized remote users on the Internet to access internal Remote Desktop Services server applications without creating a virtual private network connection.

Instead of using TCP port 3389, RD Gateway transmits the RDP traffic over TCP port 443, so little or no modification is needed to the external firewall because this port is usually already open for other HTTPS traffic.
