6.1. Planning for Authentication

How do you prove who you are? When I write a check at the grocery store, I'm asked for some form of identification, which is usually my driver's license. I'm also asked for my photo ID when I go through airport security before boarding my flight. When I go to work, I have to pass my security badge across a sensor to prove I have permission to enter the building. That usually brings me to sitting down at my desk and proving I have permission to access my computer and the resources on the network.
