Although the average home user may not consider their emails to be "official records," anyone who works in a business environment realizes that emails and other electronic forms of communication are company documents in the same way as a hard-copy memo, sales report, inventory sheet, or company network policy form. Not only are electronic communications official corporate documents, but the contents are company property. As such, they fall within the same policies and legal guidelines as any other business document.
