8.11. Using Windows Recovery

You can access the Windows Recovery Environment via one of four methods:

Boot from the installation CD

Place the installation CD into the CD drive, reboot from the CD upon the boot selection device, and then select Repair.

Deploy from Windows Deployment Services (WDS)

You can access the Windows Recovery Environment using Windows Deployment Services.

Create a bootable WinRE disk

Using either Backup Business Deployment or the Windows Automated Installation Kit, you can create a bootable Windows recovery disk.

Create a bootable WinRE partition

You can create an entire partition dedicated to the Windows Recovery Environment.
