6.14. Summary

Group Policy is the fabric of high-level administration and arguably the most difficult but fundamentally required skill in order to become an effective administrator. On the enterprise level, Group Policy can become maddening and involve the addition of policies that can single-handedly destroy the functionality of an entire business infrastructure. On the enterprise administrator certification exam, students are expected to be familiar with Group Policy to a point that they can administer even the toughest installations.

Remember that with the addition of Windows Server 2008, Microsoft introduced the following new features:

  • Administrative template files

  • Starter GPOs

  • Comments for GPOs and policy settings

  • Network location awareness ...
