9.6. Overview of System Center Essentials 2007
As I pointed out earlier when discussing Windows Server 2008 WSUS, WSUS is a freely available add-on from Microsoft that is designed to support the update and deployment of Microsoft business products throughout the enterprise. The only real limitation to WSUS is that it relies on both the use of Group Policy and the existence of Microsoft products. For most businesses, this is enough functionality to prove that it is an exceptionally useful tool. However, for some higher-end enterprises, a more robust update solution is required.
