9.7. Overview of System Center Configuration Manager 2007

Enterprises with the most complex requirements for enterprise-level update needs can use the System Center Configuration Manager 2007 (SCCM 2007), designed for businesses with more than 500 PCs and 30 servers.

SCCM 2007 has been designed from the ground up with a high-end business in mind. First, the hardware requirements are high. SCCM 2007 with Service Pack 1 runs only on Windows Server 2008, and it also requires a dedicated SQL Server running at least SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 1, but SQL Server 2008 will soon be recommended for a more complete solution.
