9.9. Overview of Microsoft Update

Microsoft Update, which is a separate tool from Windows Update, is an update tool that serves a similar role to Windows Update, except it is used on Microsoft Windows as well as Microsoft Office and other Microsoft programs. Additionally, Microsoft Update is compatible with Windows Update. You can access Microsoft Update is first accessed through the Web by heading to http://www.update.microsoft.com.

Note that in order to access this site, you must be using Internet Explorer. Once there on a computer running Windows Server 2008, you should see a screen that looks like Figure 9.10.
