8.4. Introducing Quorums

One of the ways of the Windows Server 2008 clustering failover architecture improved upon the previously existing Windows Server 2003 platform was through the introduction of Windows Server 2008 quorums.

When used with reference to human beings, the word quorum is defined as "the number of members of a group or organization required to be present to transact business legally, usually a majority" (Source: Random House Unabridged Dictionary).
