Know the roles that CAs can perform.
For the certification exam, you need to intimately understand the roles of all CAs and what they are and are not capable of doing in the enterprise.
Know the different between stand-alone and enterprise CAs.
This is tested frequently, along with what types of implementations can be made with each CA type. This ultimately leads back to enrollment and what can and cannot participate in certain forms of enrollment.
Know the technology.
Understand what can be used in your environment. Are smart cards capable of handling certificates? What about individual computers? Will this add any additional requirements? You need to know the answer to these questions.
