A beginning point. When monitoring a server, you first create a baseline that shows what the performance is at this moment in time. Later, you can take measurements and compare them against the baseline to determine whether any changes have occurred. Standard computer images can also be a baseline. By using Windows Deployment Services (WDS), you can deploy standard images as a baseline configuration and then use other tools such as Group Policy to fine-tune those images.
