Summary

In this chapter, you learned about two types of design solutions for large-scale environments. You can enable users to access needed data in a multiserver environment using linked server strategies and in a multilocation environment using replication strategies.

You learned how to set up and manage linked servers and configure them for delegation. You also created some distributed queries using linked servers.

You learned how to design a strategy using the three replication topologies supported by SQL Server 2005 and how to monitor various aspects of each strategy using SSMS, Replication Monitor, and Transact-SQL statements. Finally, you learned various methods to modify and tune your replication configurations.
