Summary

In this chapter, you learned the essential factors necessary in designing a database data management strategy. First you learned the methods you could apply for controlling the quality of your data using implicit business requirements. You learned the importance of knowing your data and were led through several exercises to assist you in that quest. You also learned that a variety of tools, including the querying tools of SQL Server 2005, are available to enforce data quality, such as SQL Server Integration Services packages.

Then you learned the various approaches to data management and conflict resolution. You also learned how to explicitly control data integrity by using constraints and choosing appropriate data types.
