The primary goal for monitoring SQL Server 2005 is to establish its level of performance by gathering various metrics. Because of the complexity of a client/server architecture, the nature of a concurrent system, and the various components involved in a database solution, it is virtually impossible to guarantee a level of performance otherwise.
