Skill 41 Calculate Distance, Rate, and Time

It is very helpful to be able to calculate how much time it will take to get from one place to another when traveling at a certain speed, or how far you will travel if you are moving at a certain rate or speed for a given amount of time

You might find questions like these on the ASVAB. They are not difficult to solve. The formula to use is

distance = rate × time

d = r × t

Distance is how far you travel, rate is how fast you are moving, and time is how long it takes you to travel.

Let’s work through a few examples.

Find the Distance. If you travel on your motorcycle at an average speed of 45 miles per hour for 2 hours, how far will you travel?

Set up the information in the formula:

Find the Rate. ...
