Customizing a Setup Project

When you are creating a professional application, you don't want the user to have to navigate to the installation folder to run the application. You instead want to create menu options and shortcuts in the target machine so that the end user can easily run the application. You might also like the installation program to provide different custom features and actions while performing installation.

Visual Studio .NET provides different types of editors to customize various aspects of the installation process:

  • File System Editor

  • Registry Editor

  • File Types Editor

  • User Interface Editor

  • Custom Actions Editor
