Creating Web Services

To better understand Web services, you should be familiar with both sides of the conversation. In the following sections, you'll learn how to create a Web service by using the tools built in to ASP.NET.

Although this material does not appear directly on the exam, it helps enhance your understanding of the skills that the exam measures.

Creating a Web Service Project

To create a Web service, you can build an ASP.NET project in Visual Studio .NET.

NOTE

Web Server Required You need to have an IIS Web server available to you in order to complete Step by Step 7.2, Step by Step 7.3, and Guided Practice Exercise 7.1. IIS is a part of the Windows 2000 Professional, Windows XP Professional, and Windows Server operating systems.
