LEADERSHIP CHALLENGES

This is the point where modern views of transformational leadership encounter knowledge and skill gaps within executive ranks. Although it is unreasonable to suggest that senior executives become expert in designing business processes, it is reasonable to suggest that leaders in an ERP-enabled world have to understand the conceptual challenges and need to establish a process to deal with these issues. This is necessary to ensure that the organization remains focused on improving business results.

Just as a dynamic leadership team will certainly not forget to include understanding of markets or strategic plans, the leadership team and vision must also include a component that deals with using modern knowledge of business process integration to turn IT applications costs into a continuous business improvement program. This is required both to improve current performance and to include and incorporate actions taken as a part of strategic plans, which may include acquisitions, divestitures, new capital investment, and much more. The governance process must be incorporated into an organizational leadership approach to deal with transformational issues in the transition to or management within an ERP platform.
