PART III

A New Program Governance Approach

PART III focuses on developing and implementing an action plan to enable a business to take the output from the analyses and incorporate it into a continuous improvement plan that will be sustaining over time and keep the organization focused on achieving a Return on Investment. The five analyses are used to construct a program governance approach focused on leading the organization through change processes at all levels of the business.

  • Chapter 9, “Integration of Organizational Needs”: This chapter will discuss the process of integrating all of the data collected during the preparation phase in Part II. It will present organizational issues and concepts to deal with the integration of cross-functional and cross-leader issues to produce a single comprehensive path forward.
  • Chapter 10, “Developing a Governance Process”: Throughout this book, as we have created a new understanding of organizational issues and challenges, we have referred to the need for a more comprehensive program governance function to manage the process of business transformation. In Chapter 10, we propose a tiered program to address these needs.
  • Chapter 11, “Organizational Change Management”: As pointed out throughout this book, success or failure ultimately is determined by the ability of the project teams to deal with organizational change issues, both with workers who will be affected by the changes and also with executives whose compensation and careers may be affected. ...
