15.15. Summary

In this chapter, the basics of DSP and use of MATLAB functions in DSP operations have been discussed. The Graphic User Interface tool, FDA Tool, used in DSP design has been described. The chapter can be summarized as follows:

  • The importance and advantages of DSP have been discussed.

  • The types of signals i.e. is continuous and discrete signals and their representations, are detailed.

  • Basic discrete-time signals such as unit impulse, step, ramp and exponential discrete-time signals and their representations are described.

  • Classification of discrete-time signals and systems is illustrated.

  • Basic mathematical operations on discrete-time signals such as addition, multiplication, scaling, folding and shifting are explained. User-defined ...
