8.1. Introduction

MATLAB is a high-level language having arrays or matrices as basic data types with control flow statements, functions, data structures, input/output and object-oriented programming features. It contains all the features and constructs available in any other professional programming language like C or C++. It allows a user to construct small as well as large and complex applications with fair ease.

In this chapter, MATLAB Editor, programs, functions and debugging tools are discussed. The definition of functions and methods of using them in other functions or subprograms are also described in details.
